Back to School Healthy Habits with Dr. Alanna Levine NYC Pediatrician

By July 21, 2012 ,

This week Kimberly-Clark and Colgate-Palmolive partnered with HealthyChildren.org and Dr. Alanna Levine (accredited New York based pediatrician and mom of two), to help moms teach kids healthy habits for back-to-school season.

During a Manhattan event, stations were set up based on different themes to encourage families to add healthy habits during their back to school preparations. The healthy habits themes included :

Shield them everywhere. Encourage children to wash their hands with warm soapy water for 20 seconds and dry for 20 seconds. Set a timer so your child learns how long 20 seconds really is!

Let their confidence shine. Encourage a healthy body image by focusing on a nutritious diet and physical activity.

Make a home for learning. If someone is sick at home, disinfect commonly touched surfaces to prevent the spread of germs.

Start the training early. Twice daily routines of teeth brushing will set your child up for a lifetime of good dental hygiene.

During the event I was able to speak with Dr. Alanna Levine, accredited New York based pediatrician and mom of two, about making sure families start healthy habits

As Dr. Alanna Levine said, the sooner you start healthy habits as part of your child and families routine, the easier it is to do these simple steps everyday. So get started building those healthy habits!

Please Note: I was invited as media and received a gift bag after the event. No other compensation was received. Views expressed are always 100% my own.
