Her Gone Life

This week my son and I were invited to a very special movie screening for The Oogieloves and The Big Balloon Adventure.

But the Oogieloves are more then just another animated movie for children. This groundbreaking interactive family film is rated G and geared towards families with children in the 2 year to 7 year age range AND their caregivers.


Before the screening, parents enjoyed breakfast with their kids and before separating for different activities. The kids went to “Camp Oogie” where they watched Oogie show clips, learned Oogie songs and decorate their own lunch bags.


In another room parents met with Kenn Viselman, Producer of The Oogieloves Movie who talked about the vision for movie; the importance of interactivity, the messages in the movie.

Kenn, whose past experience includes Teletubbies and Thomas the Tank Engine, created this unique movie with parents in mind, and specifically wants to engage with families about topics affecting children today (i.e. teamwork, creative thinking and physical exercise).

As a parent who take my son to see movies, I agreed with a lot of what Kenn said. Many movies today are considered to be kid and family friendly but have some questionable theme and moments parents wouldn't want to expose to their kids. After meeting with Kenn, I was very interested to see how his movie would be different. After making sure he had all his movie snacks, my son joined me to watch the movie. Since the movie won't be out until August 29th, I can't give you a full review of the movie yet. But I can tell you my son enjoyed the fact that he didn't have to sit down all the time. That it was ok to get up and dance. That it was ok to talk back to your friends on the big screen. That it was ok to speak to mommy and have me help read the words on the screen. I also like that. I like that very much. After the movie screening, my son showed off his lunch bag and wanted to take photos with all the posters. I wish they had posters of the stars we saw in the movies. Oh wait. Did I forget to tell you about the different stars making a guest appearance? The movie features stars like Chazz Palminteri, Jaime Pressly and more like Toni Braxton. It’s Schluufy’s birthday and the Oogieloves (Goobie, Zoozie, and Toofie) along with their friends J. Edgar, Windy Window and Ruffy, are organizing a party. Everything is going along just perfectly until J.Edgar trips and loses the last five magical balloons in all of Lovelyloveville. The Oogieloves immediately take action and set out to find the magical balloons in time to save their friend’s party. Along the way they meet some very interesting characters indeed, including Dotty Rounder (Cloris Leachman); Bobby Wobbly (Carey Elwes); Milky Marvin(Chazz Palminteri), Rosalie Rosebud (Toni Braxton) and Lola and Lero Sombrero (Christopher Lloyd and Jaime Pressly). Can these new friends help them recover the magical balloons and get back to the cottage in time to celebrate Schluufy’s surprise birthday?
