Razor Kixi Mixi Kids Scooter Review

By March 12, 2013 , ,

During the Razor Toy Fair preview, I got a sneak peak at the new line features the Kixi preschool ride-ons for younger children.

A few weeks after the preview, I received the Kixi Mixi Convertible Kick Scooter (SRP: $39.99) for review.

I liked that it started with 3 wheels so my son could learn to balance. Then when he was ready, I could convert it to a 2 wheel scooter. At least that was what I tried to tell my son. I doubt he heard me say any of that.

My son was beyond excited about getting a scooter and wanted to ride it right away. I was a bit nervous about taking him outside, so I told him he could "practice" in the living room. I figured it would take a few tries before he got his balance.

I was so wrong. My son got his balance very quickly! At which point I felt it best to put on the helmet. After a few more "practice" runs, it was time to take him outside for more room.

Outside my son rode his scooter up and down in the park. He was so happy. I was surprised how quickly he was able to learn his balance, make turns and actually scoot a few times with both feet on the scooter and not on the ground!

Clearly he was ready to learn how to use a scooter, and the Razor Kixi Mixi fit him perfect. The handle bars are soft foam, the step plate is wide enough for his feet, and it's easy for him to ride, turn and use.

I was able to ask my son if he liked his scooter in a brief video before he scooted off again. I also show how the scooter's handle turns easily so kids change directions for curves, etc. Check out my video above.

I was really impressed with our Razor Kixi Mixi and recommend it or any of the other new Razor Kixi Scooters. The Kixi preschool ride-ons are aimed to boost a child's balance and coordination while helping them be active.

For parents interested, here is more information about the scooter in the Razor Kixi line
