Her Gone Life

This week Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 opens in Theaters on September 27, 2013, so I was excited to interview Terry Crews about his role in the movie as Officer Earl, the gym shorts wearing, athletic police offer.

Ironically I met Terry Crews in real life last year during another event. Despite being a well know star he was a really down to earth guy. And funny. Terry really has a good sense of humor.

During the phone interview, Terry was the same down to earth guy as he answered various questions about his acting career, family life and role in this animated movie.

Since I attended an advance screening, I already saw Terry's character Officer Earl in the movie and wanted to ask Terry how he and Officer Earl were similar. And what was the deal with those shorts!

Onica (MommyFactor): The character Officer Earl is very protective of his friends. Throughout the movie he wants to make sure everyone is ok. Are you like this Terry? How are you and Officer Earl similar? And those shorts?!

Terry Crews: Well first let me say I have a pair of those shorts (laughs) But yes there's a lot of similarities between me and Officer Earl. Officer Earl is a passionate character. Like a real man. I think to be a real man there needs to be passion, you have to show you care. In society they try to define a real man as not caring but being a true man is to be helpful.

Officer Earl uses his strength to build and support. Earl also has a deep moral code. It's the same for me. I want to protect and take care of those close to me.

I also had a chance to ask Terry a 2nd question.

Onica (MommyFactor): After the filming and recording of the movie ended. How did you celebrate with your family?

Terry Crews: I took the kids to the set. I wanted to show them how the movie was made. I showed them al the sets and people behind the scences. I wanted then to know what went into making the movie. The kids were amazed to see how many people it took to really make a movie. We enjoyed it.

Terry finished up answering other interview questions including some advice for parents.

Terry Crews: Be a kid yourself. See yourself in the eyes of your kids. Adults need to talk direct and instruct kids instead of thinking our children can watch us and pick up life lessons.

I thought this was such great advice, especially since Officer Earl is such a great dad in the movie.
