Seeing Dawn of the Planet of the Apes as a Dolby Influencer
If you read this blog for a bit, you know we love going to the movies. Like seriously. For me it's the movie experience itself. There's nothing like sitting in a theater surrounded by sounds while watching the action unfold on a large screen.
And when it comes to movie sound, nothing compares to theater's showing movies with Dolby Atmos Technology. So I'm excited to announce that I've become part the Dolby influencer program. Yay!
So what does this mean? Well first I get to attend films in Dolby Atmos theaters!
Then I come back and blog about it. But then guess what? I get to share with YOU my readers Dolby news, swag (movie posters, merchandise, etc.) AND movie passes so you can see the movie also! That's right, you also get to go to the movie and experience Dolby Atmos sound.
And let me tell you Dolby Atmos really does make a difference in how you experience and enjoy a movie. I noticed it clearly when I used my Dolby theater passes to see the newly released Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. I was SO looking forward to seeing this movie just so I can hear Caesar speaking. Seriously.
And hear Caesar speak I did. It was amazing. His words was clear and engulfing. I didn't have to strain to listen or ask someone sitting next to me...what did he say?!
And then there's the sound during the action scenes. I swear I heard everything. I'm not kidding. That Dolby Atmos Technology is serious about bring you sounds from the movie anywhere you are in the movie theater, not just where the speakers are.
How does Dolby do it?
- Dramatic New Moviegoing Experience - Dolby Atmos goes far beyond surround sound to create a new level of realism for moviegoers. In a movie with Dolby Atmos, cinema sound moves around the theater to match what you see on the screen.
- Overhead Speakers for Added Realism - Cinemas equipped for Dolby Atmos have overhead speakers that heighten the realism. Rain on a roof, airplanes taking off—you'll hear the sounds exactly where they would be in real life.
- Always Reflects the Creator's Intent - Dolby Atmos give filmmakers full creative control over the placement and movement of sound around the audience. No matter the size of the theatre, you'll always see and hear the full realization of their creative visions
- Independently Controlled Speakers - Theatres equipped for Dolby Atmos employ up to 64 independently controlled speakers. You'll hear extraordinary power and impact when the director calls for it. You'll also hear the most subtle details with amazing clarity.
Cool right? I bet you're now ready to watch a movie using Dolby Atmos technology.

The technology that goes into the movies these days is amazing! I saw the previews on this and it looks like a really great movie.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great theater experience. I only go to one theater (they have in seat food and beverage service) so I am very partial to that!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you on this! The overhead speakers must really add to the movie experience!
ReplyDeleteI am always very excited when a movie has DOLBY. Unless they turn it TOOOO loud! Congrats on your ambassadorship.
ReplyDeleteThe overhead speakers sound so neat. It's almost like 3D sound!
ReplyDeleteI so want to see this movie for starters. also wishing the giveaway was open to me (a Canadian LOL) The sound these days are just amazing!! Technology sure has come a long way.

ReplyDeleteI haven't seen this movie yet, I've been meaning to go but I haven't found the time yet.
ReplyDeleteLooks interesting, my boys would like it.
ReplyDeleteI watched these as kids not sure how I feel about them as adults.
ReplyDeleteDolby Atmos technology sounds awesome! I can't figure out if there is a location near me - at first it says no, but then when I click on a list of their theaters, there is a location close by. I can't tell if Dolby 3D is what it is referring to, and that is different than Dolby Atmos.
ReplyDeleteI saw that recently I however was not expecting to have to read so many subtitles. I did like the movie but it just started to feel really long to me. I am a big fan of the original planet of the apes movies. I sometimes binge watch them with my son.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing more annoying than not being able to hear a movie after you've paid so much money to see it. My mom is hard of hearing, so we always have to pick a spot near a speaker, which is of course next to the wall and usually in a bad viewing spot. The 64 speakers is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI heard a lot of good reviews for the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. I'm sure a lot would want these movie passes.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your partnership! Movies and perks, sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteI'd totally watch a movie with the Dolby Atmos. I'm going to look and see if there's one somewhere near us.
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat to be able to watch the film in the test environment with Dolby speakers. You really do need good surround sound to make you feel part of the action
