Ania Sowinski Interview for Eddie the Eagle Movie

By February 24, 2016 ,

This week I interviewed Ania Sowinski, who plays publicist “Carrie”, who helped book the press conferences for Eddie during the Olympics scene in the film Eddie the Eagle.

Note: Hosted by 20th Century Fox, I was invited as media to the movie screening and press junket interviews. Any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

Since the press conference was a great scene in the movie and an important part in Eddie journey, I couldn't wait to hear what Ania Sowinski had to say about her role.

Onica {MommyFactor}: So, my question is about your role. What appealed to you for this particular role?

Ania Sowinski: I think what really I loved about this, number one, I don't think any of us could believe they were making a film about Eddie the Eagle. Number two, the '80s for me", I was a child of the '80s, so it was so exciting to be able to dress in that way, have your hair styled that way. I mean, the makeup tests we did on the hair were just fantastic. I had such fun on this job I cannot tell you.

The other thing that was a massive pull for me was our director, Dexter Fletcher. I've never been on a set that is so joyful. Hugh is one of the most joyful people to work with as well. It was just fun every single day. Even my audition for it was fun. Everything about it was fun from the start, the costumes, the people, the vibe.

It was an utter pleasure, absolute pleasure to do, and exciting to be part of such a great British story. You know, everybody loves the underdog story that lifts us up. So, it was just exciting from the start. There was no chance of not going to meet for it. It was brilliant.

Onica {MommyFactor}: Since the movie is about trying to make an impossible dream happen, besides acting, what would be something personally that you'd think is impossible but you would really love to make happen?

Ania Sowinski: It's funny, only the other day I was saying something that I think is probably impossible for me, and it's so simple. It's just a simple life, because my life is crazy. And sometimes it feels impossible that I'll ever be able to rev it down a notch and just step back and live daily without my crazy head sort of getting in the way sometimes.

And in terms of dreams, wow, I've never been asked that before. I mean, I'd love to go to space. I really would. I wanted to be a rocket scientist!

It was great to speak with Ania and hear about her role in Eddie the Eagle. Her excitement about the movie and it's message could clearly be heard. I share her excitement that Eddie the Eagle is a heart warming film that so many will enjoy!

Get ready to fly like Eddie when the film opens this weekend!
