When Growing Up Madison, ask me to cover an interview with Kaitlyn Dias, who voices young Riley in INSIDE OUT, I was over joyed (get it?).

Onica {MommyFactor}: When we first met Riley, she was discovering all her feelings. Now she's going on her first date. Did you have to change anything in terms of voicing her?

Kaitlyn Dias: No Riley is still the same energetic girl who's curious about everything. She's still trying to figure out the way things work but she has a bit more sense of her new home.


Onica {MommyFactor}: Is there anything you'd like to change about her? As she's now getting older?

Kaitlyn Dias: No, I think they're perfectly on point with her. They really did their research with their daughters.

Onica {MommyFactor}: How do you prepare for voicing her. Is there a special routine you go through?

Kaitlyn Dias: Not really. I just jump right in. I just draw on my own personal experiences for emotional recall. Of course. But there's not much to her. She's just a normal girl, like I'm pretty sure I am as well.

Onica {MommyFactor}: To me, Riley seems a little different, a bit more out going. She plays hockey! Do you also have these kind's of activities?

Kaitlyn Dias: I go out and do something fun with friends. I tend to lean more towards aquarium and stuff instead of hockey.

Onica {MommyFactor}: For young girls growing up with Riley, what do you want them to take away from this next chapter in her life?

Kaitlyn Dias: First, don't be afraid of your dad. He's just trying to help you and protect you. He loves you very much. He doesn't hate you. I promise. *laughing*

Second, it's OK to be sad. It's a natural part of being human and it's something we all experience. So it's OK to be sad. Just give it some time, let it run it's course and it will move on.
