Her Gone Life

Today BIG HERO 6 opens in theaters everywhere and I couldn't be more happy about it. Like many of you, I've been looking forward to seeing BIG HERO 6 for weeks now.

Note: Thanks to Disney and ABC TV, who invited me on this all expense paid trip to Los Angeles for the #BigHero6Event and #ABCTVEvent. While I will share about the different events and activities during this trip, any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

While it was super awesome to see BIG HERO 6 after walking the red carpet at the premiere event, I want to say that this movie is amazing all on it own. I would've still enjoyed seeing it in a regular movie theater like everyone else.

Speaking of enjoying the movie, make sure to get to the theater early. Playing before the movie is the animated short “Feast,”, which is the story of one man’s love life as seen through the eyes of his best friend and dog, Winston, and revealed bite by bite through the meals they share. It's an adorable and yummy short. Don't miss it!

So why take your family to see BIG HERO 6?


First the storyline. Like seriously. The idea of a boy and his robot going on an adventure is appealing no matter what. But the story is so much more then that. While Hiro and Baymax do rock fancy technology suits to fight the bad guy, it's the reason behind why, that's the driving force in the movie. It's not just about saving the world.

Without giving to much away, I'll share that Hiro is taken to a very sad place after the loss of his brother Tadashi. Unexpectedly Hiro connects with Baymax, a personal healthcare companion, who seeks to help "heal" Hiro of his emotional pain. But helping Hiro feel better turns out to be a bigger job with far reaching consequences then both Hiro and Baymax expected.

To help them on this mission of healing, they recruit adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), neatnik Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry whiz Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and fanboy Fred (voice of T.J. Miller).

And the Big Hero 6 team is born....with some hilarious interactions. These young modern day superheros wasn't so super at first. It took some time to adjust to their new position and abilities. But adjust they eventually did and became amazing using their personalized techie ability.

I really liked that the team had diverse and real characters that kids and their families can relate to. The team had both guys and gals who were brilliant in their technology field and supported each other. The group is a real good example of what can happen when everyone cares about the same thing.


And it's this team's bond that really comes in handy as they battle the bad guy to save San Fransokyo, a city that's a lovely blend of both western and Japanese culture.

Like the city the feel of the movie blends both western and Japanese themes, animation and messages. I was really impressed that there was a happy blend of staying true to the original Marvel concept with a few modern twists.

So does the team save the day? I'll tell you, yes they do. But how and why is what makes this a great movie. The bond that started with Hiro and Baymax gets extended to Tomago, Wasabi, Honey Lemon and Fred and the result not only saves the city but also humanity in the most amazing way.

I warn you to get your tissue ready to cry first and then turn around to cheer, and then laugh till you cry (again).

I highly recommend the film so get your tickets and go see it! Also make sure to stay till the very end. Like the end of the credit end. There's a fun surprise the fans will love seeing!
