Zack Snyder Talks Dolby Technology in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

By April 04, 2016 ,

When Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice released in theaters, it was awesome! Part of what made it so great was the amazing sounds, especially since it was released in Dolby Cinema, which is outfitted with Dolby Atmos sound and Dolby Vision!

Note: I'm part of Dolby influencer program and will share information and news about their products. However any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

The film’s director, Zack Snyder, recently chatted about how Dolby’s technologies had a profound impact in bringing the world’s greatest gladiator fight to life.

Zack Snyder, the film’s director, said,
“Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are definite game changers for filmmakers. The blacks are truly black, and the deep contrast and brightness levels are amazing. They make these powerful and iconographic superhero characters that we’ve known all our lives truly come alive, and I’m thrilled we get to see—and especially to hear—this film in Dolby on the big screen.”

Dolby Cinema begins with the filmmaker’s vision—using the full storytelling capabilities that Dolby offers in image and sound production to transform the way movies are made. This combination of state-of-the-art image, sound, and acoustic capabilities makes every visit to the theatre a completely captivating cinematic event.

“With incredible realism and wonderfully clear and nuanced sound, Dolby technologies have helped filmmakers hit the visual and audio sweet spot, enhancing the movie into a captivating and complete picture,” said Doug Darrow, Senior Vice President, Cinema Business Group, Dolby Laboratories. “Warner Bros. continues to be a leading creative force for film innovation in content and technology, and we are eager for audiences to see the powerfully immersive film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in a Dolby Cinema.

With Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, Dolby Cinema enables richer and more detailed storytelling. The Dolby Vision projection system, which uses state-of-the-art optics and image processing, delivers high dynamic range with enhanced color technology and a contrast ratio that far exceeds that of any other image technology on the market today.

The result is a viewing experience that delivers strikingly vivid and realistic images that make viewers feel like they are in the movie’s world. Dolby Cinema also includes the award-winning Dolby® sound technology, Dolby Atmos, which moves audio around the theatre, even overhead, with amazing richness and depth.

From director Zack Snyder comes “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” starring Oscar winner Ben Affleck (“Argo”) as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent in the characters’ first big-screen pairing.

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with each other, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it has ever known before.

The film also stars Oscar nominees Amy Adams (“American Hustle”) as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg (“The Social Network”) as Lex Luthor, Diane Lane (“Unfaithful”) as Martha Kent, and Laurence Fishburne (“What’s Love Got to Do with It”) as Perry White; Oscar winners Jeremy Irons (“Reversal of Fortune”) as Alfred, and Holly Hunter (“The Piano”) as Senator Finch; and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince.

Snyder directed from a screenplay written by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer, based on characters from DC Comics, including Batman, created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, and Superman, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

The film is produced by Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder, with Wesley Coller, Geoff Johns and David S. Goyer serving as executive producers.
